A little about myselfHi Everyone! My name is Jordan, and I have a story that I would like to share with you! When I was eight years old, my cousin Braiden was born with a cleft lip. I didn't know it at the time, but this event would change my life forever. Braiden had his surgery at three months old, and his smile quickly became his winning feature. Even as a little girl, the power of my cousin's smile was immeasurable, and I knew I wanted to help other children like him. That, my friends, is how the Smile Team was born.
Fast forward to 2021, and I am a first year Speech Language Pathology Graduate student at the University of Florida, as well as the Founder/President of The Smile Team Inc, an organization committed to changing children's lives, one smile at a time! To find out more about this team, and how we've contributed $20,200,000 back into the global economy, click below! |
Community
The Smile Team owes much of our world changing capacity to the cheer and dance communities! From Portland, Oregon to Baltimore, Maryland and everywhere in between, the cheerleaders and dancers in this country have demonstrated the utmost generosity. Special thank you to Varsity brands for allowing our team to share your stage and speak up for children born with cleft lip and palate!

Cleft lip and palate is the fourth most common birth defect in the world. Children born with this condition in foreign countries are often treated as curses and denied an education, and a future. $250 can change that. Furthermore, every surgery is estimated to contribute $50,000 back into the global economy as that child now has a second chance at life, and the ability to contribute to their society. Additionally, children born with clefts in the United States also face immense difficulties in securing proper care. While the initial surgery is often covered through insurance, subsequent surgeries (primarily dental) as well as subsequent care (speech therapy) are often not covered. The Smile Team seeks to lighten the financial difficulties for these children and their families. Help make a difference below!
